The
tax to financial transactions (FTT), called Tobin tax initially, in honor to
the American economist James Tobin, is a type of tax levied all kinds of
actions of buying and selling in the Stock Market. Initially, this tax was
devised to tax only the purchase and sale of shares...
European economists have worked on this tax and it has been estimated that taxing with 0.1% this type of financial transactions in the European Union could raise about 50 billion euros per year its revenue.
This enormous amount of money could be used for the NGOs that work for social development and against global poverty, to less developed countries within the European Union, improving the health, education and technological development; also promoting the entrepreneurship of small and medium enterprises.
According to statistics, about 95 of every100
pounds sterling
belong to the fictitious money from financial in stock market movements and
speculation.
